Domestic Battery Charges Filed Against Des Plaines Cop

Police Sgt. Matthew Thomas has been faced with similar charges in the past regarding fights with his wife, the Daily Herald reports.

Police Sgt. Matthew Thomas, formerly known as Matthew Hicks, was charged with the crime after 9-1-1 was called regarding a fight Thomas had with his wife earlier this month. Thomas was acquitted of charges filed in April of 2010 claiming he hit his wife, pulled her hair and wouldn’t let her call police, the newspaper reports. Thomas has been on disability leave with the Des Plaines Police Department for four years following a car crash. Chief William Kushner told the Daily Herald Thomas doesn’t get a paycheck or benefits from the department.
