Dine and Ditch Plan Fails and Black Swans Disappear

Local police departments provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt.

A couple left without paying their $44 bill at a Skokie restaurant. However, the suspects had dined at the restaurant before, and the manager was able to pull their credit card and name via computer.

Approximately $300 was taken from a diaper bag while its owner was in an Oak Park business.

A pair of black swans statues were stolen from a Skokie home. The owner told police the metal animals were lawn decorations and their value is around $400.

A Flash Taxi Cab was stolen as it sat idle in Skokie. The vehicle was left running while unattended, police said.

Police responded to a Des Plaines restaurant, where an employee said a man was intoxicated and bothering customers. Police found him outside, drinking from a paper cup. When police asked him if he had any alcohol on him, he said he did not, and added, “go ahead and check.”

Police removed the lid from the cup and found a clear liquid that smelled like alcohol. When police asked the man what was in the cup he allegedly said, “pimp juice.”

An Oak Park home was robbed of items including a laptop computer, iPad, jewelry and pretzels.

A Chicago man told Niles police that he had observed a man in a vehicle occupying a handicapped parking space even though his car did not display a handicapped placard or license plate. Police said the Chicago man approached the parked man and asked him to move his car so a handicapped driver could use the space. According to police, the parked man then punched the Chicago man.

A bag of M&Ms was stolen from an unlocked car in Wilmette.
