Des Plaines Police: Man Charged with Attempted Burglary

Larry T. Austin, 27, of Des Plaines was carged with attempted burglary June 29 at 4:30 a.m.

A homeowner in the 1400 block of Willow said he was sleeping when he heard his car alarm going off. According to the police report, he looked out the window, saw a man inside his car, and shouted, “what are you going?”  The man ran eastbound through an alley.

Des Plaines police called for a K-9 unit to search the area, but a responding officer heard screams down the block and found two other officers apprehending a man who fit the victim’s description of the offender, the police report states.

Police said the car had a door ajar and wires near the brake pedal hanging loose. The owner of the car said he did not notice anything missing from the vehicle.
