Des Plaines Police Investigate Home Invasion

Des Plaines police are investigating a home invasion and robbery.

Des Plaines police are investigating a home invasion and robbery in which two men handcuffed and beat a man and robbed his home.

At 2 p.m. Thursday, two men wearing navy blue uniforms who identified themselves as police officers said they had a search warrant for the residence. The 35-year-old victim let the two men into his home. The two men were armed with handguns and tasers.

Des Plaines Police said the man was handcuffed and the two men began searching the home. The took money and several other items.

Police said that one point the man tried to escape the home by jumping out a window. The two men were able to catch him and proceeded to beat the victim and also tasered him in the face.

The two men then entered a white colored vehicle, described by the victim as looking like an undercover police car, and drove a way. The victim went to a neighbor who called police. The man was taken to Lutheran General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Des Plaines police said that the man appears to have been specifically targeted in the incident and does not appear to have been a random act.
