The car owner reported the driver’s side window was stuck and would not rise, and she had taped plastic over it so a friend could fix it the next day. Unknown offenders cut a slit in the plastic and threw the firework inside the car, according to the police report. It ignited an umbrella laying on the front passenger seat.
Someone heard a screeching sound, ran outside and saw a small fire on the front passenger seat and extinguished the fire with a garden hose before the Des Plaines Fire Department arrived.
