Several Dumpsters Set on Fire

Police responded July 6 at about 3:50 a.m.to a fire set in a dumpster at 1655 E. Oakton St.

Des Plaines Firefighters extinguished the fire and said it was purposely set by an unknown offender, using an unknown heat source. The fire spread to an adjacent plastic garbage bin, melting it completely. The dumpster had blistered and burnt paint.

Police discovered similar dumpster fires in the next few minutes at 1615 E. Oakton, 1703 E. Oakton, and 1733 E. Oakton.

Wallet Containing Blank Check, $680 Stolen

A woman reported July 10 in the late morning that she had placed her wallet on the table at a Starbucks coffee shop while drinking coffee, and then driving to a parking lot near O’Hare realized she did not have her wallet.

Police checked the coffee shop, including the restroom garbage cans, but did not find it. It contained $680 cash, a $100 gift card, a blank check and numerous credit cards.

Trailer Stolen

Employees of a warehouse/industrial company reported July 11 that an inventory found a semi-trailer was missing from their property in the 500 block of West Howard Avenue. Police entered it into a stolen vehicle database.
