Des Plaines Police Blotter: Cab Driver Robbed

Tractor Stolen from Parking Lot 

A 2000 model year yellow Freightliner tractor truck was reported stolen June 10. The owner told police he parked it in a truck storage lot, in the 1800 block of South Elmhurst Road, May 20 and went out of town. He went to the parking lot June 10 and discovered it missing. Police entered it into a database.

Cabbie Robbed of Phone and $215 Cash

A taxi driver for American Taxi Company said that he had picked up two men June 10 at the Des Plaines Metra station and they asked to go to Arlington Heights.

On the way, he needed fuel, and one of the men gave him a credit card to swipe at the gas station. On Golf Road, one of the men asked him to pull over, and then told him to hand over all his money and his phone, according to the report.

The cab driver handed over $215 and a black iPhone. The offender handed back the phone’s SIM card and the men left.

Car Stolen from Wilson Drive

A resident in the 1000 block of Wilson Drive told police June 13 that he parked his 1992 white Honda Civic and went to sleep. When he went outside at 7 a.m., the car was gone, the report said. Police entered it into a database of stolen vehicles.
