Business Broken Into, Glass Door Smashed

A business in the 1000 block of South Elmhurst Road had its security alarm go off at about 1:45 a.m. July 2 and the business owner arrived on scene. A glass door in the front of the business had been smashed out. Police discovered no one inside, and a K-9 unit tracked officers to a parking lot in front of a building in the 700 block of Holiday Lane.

The business owner was able to retrieve surveillance images from the alarm company which showed grainy images of someone in the back room of the store., according to the police report. The owner reported the top sliding door of a file cabinet had been opened; however, rolls of coins and boxes of blank checks remained, as did bank envelopes of cash. The cash register and a display cabinet of new phones were also untouched.

Gaslight in Front of Home Broken

A resident in the 400 block of Cambridge Road reported unknown persons used some type of object to break the gaslight in front of his house on the night between June 29 and 30. It was valued at $100.

Hand Cart, Tools Worth $580 Taken

A company in the 700 block of Lee Street reported June 27 someone had taken a tool cart worth $80, containing hand tools worth $500.  A maintenance worker said the cart had last been used in the women’s bathroom on the third floor, and he did not remember if he put it back in the storage room.
