Des Plaines Police Acknowledge Citizen Police Academy Graduates

The Des Plaines Police Department hosted a ceremony for graduates of the Police Department’s 12-week Citizen Police Academy on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Des Plaines City Hall, 1420 Miner Street.

Graduates attended sessions starting in March at the Des Plaines Police Station, a press release from the city stated.

The spring session of the Citizen Police Academy included an overview of the department, Illinois Vehicle Code and Criminal Law instruction, tours of the Police Station and 9-1-1 Center, two classes at the shooting range, a traffic stop practical, domestic dispute instruction, evidence gathering instruction and police squad ride-a-longs.

Participants interacted with Des Plaines Police Officers throughout the course which culminated with a Graduation Ceremony on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at City Hall.
