Des Plaines Man, Evanston Man Face Drugs, Weapons Charges

Police charged two men, one from Evanston and one from Des Plaines, with drug and weapons-related offenses after executing a search warrant for narcotics in Evanston. Officers found a handgun, crack cocaine and marijuana.

Police charged two men, including one from Des Plaines, with drugs and weapons-related offenses after they searched a house on Custer Street in Evanston and found a handgun, crack cocaine and marijuana, police said. 

The Evanston Police Department’s Special Operations Group executed a search warrant for narcotics in the first floor apartment at 135 Custer St. at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18. Following the search, officers arrested two local men, according to a press release from the police department.

Authorities charged Autae L. Williams, 31, of the 300 block of Custer Street, with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, all felony counts.

They also charged Williams with possession of a firearm without a valid firearm owner’s identification card and possession of firearm ammunition without a valid firearm owner’s identification card, both misdemeanors. 

Authorities charged Julius G. Robinson, 29, of the 9500 block of Sumac Drive in Des Plaines, with unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of cannabis, both felony charges, and possession of cannabis, a misdemeanor.

Williams and Robinson are scheduled to appear in Cook County Circuit Court in Skokie on Nov. 7.
