Counterfeit Bills, Attempted Apartment Burglary, More in Monday Blotter

The following arrest information was supplied by the Des Plaines Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports.

Counterfeit Currency

Three counterfeit $100-dollar bills were used to purchase jewelry at K-Mart, 1155 E. Oakton St., at 2:43 p.m. on April 3, police stated. Police recovered the counterfeit currency and a copy of surveillance video of the incident, according to the report. The offender was described as a black male with black hair, a medium brown complexion, a slim-medium build, wearing a black coat with red stitching on the back that stated, “Dynamic Skills” and “Dexterity,” police stated. Property loss was estimated at $300.

Attempt Burglary

Police responded to an attempted burglary report at an apartment building on the 1200 block of E. Harding Avenue at 2:51 p.m. on April 4. According to the report, police found white paint chips on the carpet near the front door, and the patio doorframe and trim was also damaged. The incident occurred sometime between 10:30 a.m. on April 3 and 2 p.m. on April 4, according to the report. Property loss was estimated at $75.

Burglary to Vehicle

Compact discs, gift cards and other items were reported stolen from a car parked in a parking lot on the 1300 block of Perry Street sometime between 8:30 p.m. on April 2 and 1:35 p.m. on April 3, police stated. The vehicle was locked, according to the report, but the passenger side window was slightly open. Property loss was estimated at $675.

Graffiti

A freezer outside of a restaurant on the 1700 block of River Road was vandalized with a black marker sometime between 3 p.m. on April 3 and 8 a.m. on April 4, police stated.
