Car on Fire, Stolen Truck Trailer, More in Friday Blotter

The following arrest information was supplied by the Des Plaines Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports.

Vehicle Theft

A semi-truck trailer was reported stolen from a parking lot on the 50 block of E. Howard Street at 1:11 a.m. on Feb. 28, police stated. Police reviewed surveillance video of the incident, according to the report, which showed a white, regular cab semi-tractor with dark lettering pull into the lot and remove the trailer.

Theft

Two unknown male subjects were seen on surveillance video unplugging, concealing and removing a scanner from the Des Plaines Public Library, 1501 Ellinwood St., at 9:50 a.m. on March 1, police stated. Property loss was estimated at $190.

Arson

Des Plaines police responded to report of a car on fire, parked in an alley on the 300 block of Graceland Avenue between 4:38 a.m. and 4:40 a.m. on March 8. Des Plaines firefighters broke a window on the car and extinguished the fire, according to the report. A vehicle parked next to the car that was on fire was also damaged, police stated. Property loss was estimated at $41,333.

Criminal Damage to Vehicle

A red brick was thrown through the rear window of an SUV parked in a driveway on the 1000 block of E. North Avenue sometime between noon on March 10 and 5 p.m. on March 11, police stated. Property loss was estimated at $500.

I believe the aldermen are Denise Rodd south of Dempster and Dick Sayad north. Contact them.Read More Although I do not live in Rodd's ward (Im in the 8th) I am somehow on her mailing list and she keeps wanting to know what she can do for me. Here is something.

I suggest contacting the alderman to raise the profile of what these streets need.
