"We are excited about the 2014 youth football and cheerleading season," says Dave Marquardt, President of Park Ridge Football. "We are continuing the tradition which began in 1967 yet expanding the program to allow more Park Ridge young people to experience the fun of the game while learning valuable athletic and life skills."

New this year is flag football for five-year-olds. Due to the growing interest in flag football, the House League has lowered the age to introduce the game to younger players. In addition, eight-year-olds will be offered the option to participate in flag or tackle. Other program enhancements and new fun activities will be introduced as the season unfolds in the Fall. He added, "we are looking at ways to open up participation to more youth at a range of skill levels in both flag and house league tackle programs."

Beginning its 48th year, the organization teaches the core fundamentals and rules of the most popular sport in America.  Young athletes ages 5 to 14, have the opportunity to compete in an organized football league that promotes fun, teamwork and friendships, as well as self-respect and discipline, in an atmosphere where safety is a top concern.

Open to all area children, the program consists of cheerleading and four divisions of football which are classified according to type of football, age and weight.  The divisions are Flag, Junior, Intermediate and Senior.  Teams are structured to permit neighborhood friends and schoolmates to participate together as long as reasonable parity is maintained.

Committed to providing a safe, positive and nourishing environment, Park Ridge Football helps both players and coaches have fun together as they develop strength of character, build self-esteem and realize personal development.  Park Ridge Football is a member of USA Football, the national governing body for amateur football whose Coach Certification and Heads Up Tackling programs help to educate and develop skills for both coaches and players.
