Last Weekend of Acclaimed New Musical ETUDE!

Etude - An Original and New Musical by The Sigman Brothers Playing at The Historic Des Plaines Theatre Through Nov. 3, 2013

Des Plaines, IL, Nov. 1, 2013 – Etude the fresh and exciting new musical by The Sigman Brothers is closing Sunday afternoon Nov. 3, 2013, at the Historic Des Plaines Theater at 1476 Miner St. With shows at 8 pm Fri. and Sat. night. Described as a “musical fairy tale” by its creators, ETUDE is the story of legendary French pianist and composer Charles Valentin Alkan, a 19th century reclusive musical genius who's whole existence was shrouded in mystery, including his "accidental" death in 1888. For you see, he did not die…he survives to this very day as a vampire! ETUDE is filled with magnificent songs, powerful characters, dark humor, thrilling battles and enough twists to keep the audience on the edge of their seats!

Critics and fans alike praise the musicality, lyricism and originality of ETUDE!

"Professional presentation to rival any Chicagoland theatre productions. Des Plaines, Illinois , be proud to tell all family and friends we have the Sigman brothers production of Etude The Musical onstage now at the Des Plaines Theatre. No more complaints of lack of live theatre here. It's what the DPTPS envisioned ten years ago while saving the theatre from demolition. Get the word out and support your local theatre”

“Twilight be damned, Étude the Musical is not another pedestrian tale of prowling vampires and vampire hunters. It cuts deeper as a riveting legend of undying love and man’s insatiable thirst for immortality – whether via religious pardon, dominance over disease or artistic ascension.”

"LOVE the storyline, it's so imaginative! We heard the songs on the website and loved them! Love this theatre too! The cast is so talented! This is a magical experience; it's different than most musicals!"

A rich musical legacy is the heritage of the creators of Etude. Their great-uncle was Carl Sigman, a legendary and prolific "Tin Pan Alley" lyricist, who wrote songs that were recorded by Glen Miller, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong, Elvis Presley, Mel Tome and Ella Fitzgerald. Writer and lyricist, Jerry Sigman has been an opera singer, actor, director, published author and concert performer for over 25 years. He holds a degree from Loyola. Music Mike Sigman holds 5 degrees in music and has been a fixture in the Chicagoland music scene for over 30 years with tribute bands such as Piano Man and ABBA Salute.

The Sigman Brothers organization was established to foster an artistic environment to inspire the creation and staging of new and original theatrical productions of all genres, and to preserve and extend the storied tradition of the American Theater. ETUDE is their first production.
