Chef Ron Wells Book Signing and Reception

Chef Ronald Wells will host a book signing reception celebrating the publishing of his new cookbook “A Tasteof Ron’s Down Home Cooking,” on Wednesday, December 4, from 3:00 to 5:00pm at the Frisbie Senior Center, 52 E. Northwest Highway in Des Plaines. The reception will feature a selection of dishes made from the more than forty recipes in his book, including chicken wings, a pasta salad, and zucchini loaf.  Wells’ cooking style is classic American cuisine, with a personal twist derived from his Memphis roots. “My love of cooking comes from my mother, Maudie. She would be baking sweet potato pies and German chocolate cake in our kitchen when I was a child, and I would get to lick the spoon.” The cookbook is dedicated to her.

Wells is currently the Chef at the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth in Des Plaines. The recipes in his new book are time-tested favorites he has prepared for the Sisters over the past several years. “I have a passion for food,” said Wells, “I love to cook and create new recipes to share with family and friends. I wanted to write a cookbook that would have recipes everyone could make at home in their kitchen.” The cookbook contains a section for Beef Entrees including stews; Poultry Entrees, including the chicken wings he will serve on December 4; Pork Entrees; Seafood Entrees, including Rosemary Grilled Salmon and Shrimp Salad; a Vegetable section, and a section for Desserts including chocolate cake, cheese cake, and peach cobbler.

Prior to cooking for the Sisters, Wells was the Head Chef at Shriners Hospital for Children. He also worked under Executive Chef Michael in an East Dundee retirement community. Copies of Chef Ron’s cookbook will be available at the event for $15. For more information contact Chef Ron at ronw8182@yahoo.com.
