RIVERS CASINO STARTS FOOD DONATION PROGRAM FEEDING OVER 100 PEOPLE A DAY

Rivers Casino introduced yet another green initiative, beginning a food donation program in which excess food from Canopy Buffet is donated to the Pacific Garden Mission.

On May 7, Rivers Casino introduced yet another green initiative, beginning a food donation program in which excess food from Canopy Buffet is donated to the Pacific Garden Mission, a homeless shelter in the South Loop of Chicago.

Pacific Garden Mission uses the donated food to provide meals to community members who have fallen on hard times and are in need of a helping hand.  Pacific Garden Mission serves over 68,000 meals a month.

“This food recycling program is just another way Rivers Casino gives back to our local community while also ensuring that our excess food does not end up in a landfill,“ said Rivers Casino’s General Manager, Bill Keena. “We are proud of our recent LEED Gold Certification and we want to continue our efforts while helping those who are less fortunate.”
