Martin Gardner, Assistant Vice President - Small Business Banking at Village Bank and Trust, was honored as Des Plaines Chamber Member of the Year at the Chamber's Winter Garden Ball on Friday, February 8, 2013. This honor is given to a chamber member who actively contributes to the chamber and the community.

Martin was instrumental in encouraging the Board of Directors to adopt the Young Entrepreneur Academy program this year and is an instructor. He instructs the three hour class over 30 weeks, assists the students with their business plans, and sits in on weekly conference calls to prepare for classes.
Martin has been a chamber member since 2005 and currently sits on the Board of Directors as Treasurer and also is a member of numerous chamber committees including the Winter Garden Ball and Football Raffle.

This is a well-deserved recognition for Martin. Village Bank and Trust and the Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce are proud of his achievements and fortunate to benefit from his contributions on a daily basis. He is married to wife, Melissa, and the father of two boys.
