A Michigan family's sad story took a fortunate turn—more than two months later and 100 miles away.

The Holloway family, from Stevensville, Mich., lost their dog, Milla, in late April. Two months later, their small terrier was found in south suburban Chicago. They were reunited with it the next day.

Lemont police said they received a call on June 26 reporting a lost dog that was found near 131st and Derby Road.

The dog, later identified as Milla, was scanned for a microchip, which traced back to its Michigan home roughly 100 miles away.

"The family dad been looking all over for it," said Lemont Community Service Officer Jason Boyer. "They were just about to give up and go get a new puppy."

Lemont resident Linda Silzer spotted the dog near the road and called police. The family was reunited with their beloved pooch the very next day.
