Civic Involvement:

I attend meetings of numerous community organizations to keep abreast of events and resources available to the residents. I stay informed of citizens’ concerns by participating in events at schools, faith-based organizations, and non-profit organizations.   I work with the media to ensure Des Plaines citizens receive relevant news and information.

On February 15, 2013, Exaulted Ruler Aug Schwiesow of the Elks Lodge 1526 presented the "Distinguished Citizenship Award" to Gloria Ludwig on behalf of Grand Exaulted Ruler, Thomas Brazier, for support given to many charitable and fraternal organizations in Des Plaines.

Candidate's Key Issues

Key Issue 1:  Transparency and accessibility to records.

I will continue to initiate low cost advanced technological programs in the Clerk's Office to save the taxpayers money by reducing staff time and resources. This would also streamline office routines.

Key Issue 2:  Modernization of procedures in the Clerk's Office.

I will continue to bring the office forward into this decade by initiating a low cost advanced technological program to streamline the Agenda and Minutes thereby making the Minutes available to City departments and residents in a timelier manner.

Key Issue 3:  Reduce the response time to Freedom of Information requests.

I will implement a program which will reduce the amount of time to respond to requests and improve communication between the Clerk's Office, City departments, and Police Department as well as the Legal Department.  This program would keep much better track of the status of requests, reduce staff time and resources as well as notify respondents of a deadline by email.

I will continue to keep my finger on the pulse of the City to gauge the needs of the residents and stay involved with community organizations.

Even though I am running unopposed, I will continue to work to earn your vote.

As an elected official, I will never forget that I work for you.

Thank you for this opportunity to continue serving as the Des Plaines City Clerk.
