Des Plaines First Lady's Lunch

The First Lady's Lunch has been a tradition for eight years, with this being the second to be hosted by Mrs. Moylan.  Sponsorship opportunities, with proceeds benefiting the Reverend John P. Smyth's Standing Tall Charitable Foundation, are available. The Standing Tall Charitable Foundation's purpose is a continuation of the mission established during Father John Smyth's four decade career as the Executive Director of Maryville Academy in Des Plaines.  During his tenure at Maryville numerous funds were raised and dedicated to its scholarship program and awarded to at-risk youth recipients in Maryville's care who were wards of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

The Standing Tall Charitable Foundation assists individuals who are categorized as lower socio-economic, underprivileged or underrepresented.  Applicants come to the Foundation from school counselors, teachers and social workers.  Many other organizations, as well as individuals, contact the Foundation unsolicited. The Foundation provides educational scholarships for primary and secondary schools, colleges, universities, and/or vocational training.

"Please come and join me as we help Father Smyth in bettering young people's lives," Mrs. Lisa G. Moylan said.  Mrs. Moylan reminds the public that ladies and gentlemen are invited to attend this very special Des Plaines event.                             #
