School Day Off program set at the Des Plaines History Center

Parents and children are invited to attend a fun and educational program at the Des Plaines History Center, 781 Pearson Street, Tuesday, Feb.18, which is a school day off for local children. The event is titled “Keeping Warm at the Kinder House” and will teach young students about heating and a bit about house structure. Those attending will also make a quilt square to take home with them.

Students in grades K-2 can attend a session from 10-noon and children in grades 3-5 can come from 1-3 p.m. Parents must accompany students. Cost is $3 per child or $2 if the child is brought by a member. To register, please call the History Center at 847-391-5399.

The Kinder House was built in 1907 and is a part of the History Center. After the School Day Off program, families are welcome to stop by the center to view its new quilt exhibit, “Wrapped in Comfort and Community.” The History Center plans to offer School Day Off programs throughout the year. Check www.desplaineshistory.org for updates.

The Des Plaines History Center gratefully acknowledges operating support from the City of Des Plaines, the Des Plaines Park District, our members, and other contributors.
