Bullying and Social Conflict: Prevention,
Intervention, and Reconciliation
, a free workshop, will be presented by
Carrie Goldman, an expert in the field of bullying, Thursday, April 17, from 7
to 9 p.m. at Maine Township Town
Hall, 1700 Ballard Road, Park
Ridge.  The
workshop is part of a spring series of programs organized by Maine Township’s MaineStay Youth & Family
Services in response to a community survey which ranked bullying as a top issue.

Offering a comprehensive approach to
addressing bullying prevention, intervention, and reconciliation, the workshop
will help parents, teachers, counselors and students gain the skills to manage
social conflict, bullying, and cyber bullying. 
Drawing from the latest research, Goldman, the award-winning author of Bullied: What Every Parent, Teacher, and Kid
Needs to Know About Ending the Cycle of Fear
, will offer specific, practical
tips  to effectively manage
bullying.  Those who attend the workshop
will leave with ideas they will be able to put to immediate use.

proud to bring this program to all Maine Township citizens," said Maine Township
Supervisor Carol A. Teschky. "Many thanks to our staff at MaineStay for
addressing one of the pressing human needs in our
community."


 


Goldman has received a National Parenting
Publication Award and a Mom's Choice Award, both at the gold medal level, for
excellence in educational skills and tools. She helped create the Antibullying
Coalition to bring together top bullying prevention groups around the country to
advocate for change. A blogger for PsychologyToday.com and
the Huffington Post, she has been featured on NPR, MSNBC, CNN Headline News, Fox
News, ABC Radio, WGN TV, and WGN radio for her parenting expertise.  Goldman has traveled around the country
speaking to companies, schools, and community groups about issues such as
bullying, digital citizenship in an age of cyber bullying, restorative justice,
resolving social conflict, and the cultural effects of gender-based
marketing.
