Historic Adventures: Tour of Naper Settlement

The next Historic Adventure will be a day-trip to Historic Naper Settlement in Naperville, Illinois, on Saturday, August 24.  Naper Settlement is a family-friendly outdoor history museum featuring 12 acres of learning and interactive opportunities for all ages. Naper Settlement is just steps away from dining, shopping and the Riverwalk. Visitors will be immersed in history as they learn about the past and how it relates to the present, from pioneer times to today.

Participants will leave the Des Plaines History Center at 9 am and car-pool to and from Naperville; the anticipated return time is 4 pm.  This Historic Adventure will be an opportunity for individuals and families to explore the village and its buildings. Participants will meet costumed interpreters who will share the experiences of daily life, work and celebration in a 19th-century Midwestern town. Following the visit to the Naper Settlement, there will be an opportunity for participants to share lunch in downtown Naperville and explore nearby shops and the Riverwalk.

Historic Adventure volunteer coordinators Janet Thompson and William Grice, III will lead the excursion. The fee includes transportation and admission to the Naper Settlement.  Advanced registration is required: $20 Adults ($18 Adult Members); Children, ages 4 – 12, $10.00 (With Member $9.00); free for Children under 4 years of age. Participants will car-pool to and from Naperville. For additional information or to register, please call 847-391-5399 or stop by the History Center, 781 Pearson Street, Des Plaines.  Everyone Is Welcome!
