The Optimist Club of Des Plaines will officially open their
Christmas tree lot on Saturday, November 24th at 9:00 AM. The lot is located at the Lake Park Memorial Pavilion at 2200 Lee Street in Des Plaines.

The non-profit children’s service club has sold Balsam,
Scotch pine, and Fraser Christmas trees, garland, and wreaths made on the premises for more than 50 years.

“Our trees come from Michigan and Nova Scotia, are
fresh-cut, and priced competitively” said Optimist member and tree lot chair Tom Swanson. “Our wreaths look better than anything else I’ve seen and start at just $25. This is the biggest fundraiser our club does, and the proceeds go
back into the free programs we do for the kids in town.”

The Optimist Club of Des Plaines  sponsors and supports youth sports, fine arts, shows free family-friendly movies in the summer at Lake Park, holds an annual fishing derby, kite fly, and participates in Optimist International’s
annual essay and oratorical contests, both of which award scholarships, and other activities.

Lot hours are 4:00PM-8:00PM Monday-Friday, 10:00AM-8:00 PM Saturday, and 12:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday.

I believe the aldermen are Denise Rodd south of Dempster and Dick Sayad north. Contact them.Read More Although I do not live in Rodd's ward (Im in the 8th) I am somehow on her mailing list and she keeps wanting to know what she can do for me. Here is something.

I suggest contacting the alderman to raise the profile of what these streets need.
