Afternoon Adventures

The Des Plaines History Center presents Afternoon Adventures, featuring fun and educational activities for children, ages 5-12, with an adult.

NOTE for AUGUST 6: Meet at the Greenhouse at the Des Plaines Park District Administrative & Leisure Center, 2222 Birch Street.

Greenhouses

August 6: The afternoon will focus on the history of greenhouses in Des Plaines. Participants will meet at the Greenhouse at the Des Plaines Administrative & Leisure Center, 2222 Birch Street. Children will learn that Des Plaines was once called the “City of Roses” because of all the roses that were grown here. They will be taught about how local businesses sold the roses in the marketplace. After the greenhouse visit, children will make their own greenhouse using flower stamps and paint.

$4 per child, or $2 discount with membership
