Actor Robert Reed Of Brady Bunch Fame Spent Childhood in Des Plaines

Author of new memoir is seeking information about TV's number one dad.

Did you know that Robert Reed, TV's all-american dad from The Brady Bunch spent the first seven years of his life in Des Plaines? Yea, we didn't either.

Author Ted Nichelson is searching for information from sources in the community about Reed for a new memoir he is writing about the late actor, according to an article in TribLocal.

While Reed, whose birth name is John Robert Rietz Jr., was born in Highland Park, he lived at 621 Parsons Ave. in Des Plaines. Nichelson has been working with School District 62, the Des Plaines Public Library and the Des Plaines History Center to find information about Reed's childhood. The family's (whom are reported to have been members of the First Congregational Church) roots in Des Plaines have been traced back to the early 1920's.
