Monday Park Playbook: It’s time for Fall Ball!

Has the Jordan in your family spent his summer days shooting hoops in the park? Is everything in your home a three-pointer? Your laundry basket? Your trash can? The kitchen sink? Then it’s time for fall basketball at the Des Plaines Park District. This is one of our most popular sports programs.

For seventh and eighth graders, practices begin August 26. Players develop offensive and defensive skills, learn proper sportsmanship and teamwork, and play ten competitive games during their season. Placement night is August 22, in the Prairie Lakes gym, and games begin on September 14 from 6:00 to 7:45pm. Most games are played on Saturdays at Prairie Lakes, with a select few at Chippewa Middle School on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Our freshman-sophomore league gives b-ball players an 8-game season to warm up before their high school games begin. Teams that qualify meet in additional play-off games. Teams coach themselves and are routinely scouted by high school coaches. Placement night is also August 22, from 7:45 to 9:00pm at Prairie Lakes. This is it for guys who just love to play.
