The Monday Parks PlayBook: Tours, Trips, Trees, and of course, Turkeys

Let us help you ease the stress with some hints on how to make the most of Thanksgiving week: Fitness Center Tours & Specials, School Day-Off Programs, Optimist Tree Lot opens, and Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s Thanksgiving week! While you finalize your celebration plans, let us help you ease the stress with some helpful hints how to make the most of the week.

1. Looking for a great Fitness Club? Stop by Prairie Lakes for a free tour and check out our state of the art equipment. We have Cybex, LifeFitness and Precor equipment and a dedicated indoor cycling room with 12 CycleOps Pro 300 bikes. Check out our member amenities including the saunas, whirlpool, indoor walking/jogging track and racquetball courts. We have special deals on memberships and gift certificates to help make your Black Friday shopping a breeze, too!

2. No school this week? No problem! Our Kruisin' Kids trips include Sky High Sports, Twin Rinks, the Pickwick Theatre, and Wheeling Indoor Aquatic Center. Every day is jam packed with fun. Or stay for the day at the Leisure Center, in our Leisure Lizards program, and enjoy indoor sports and games, arts and crafts, and time in the game room with your friends.

3. If a real Christmas tree is the centerpiece of your holiday decorating, there is no better place to find one than at the Optimist Club of Des Plaines Annual Holiday Tree Lot. The lot is located at the Lake Park Memorial Pavilion, 2200 Lee Street, and opens on Friday, November 23. All proceeds benefit children. The lot is open Monday–Friday, 4:00–8:00pm; Saturdays, 9:00am–8:00pm; and Sundays, noon–8:00pm.

4. And, finally, Happy Thanksgiving from your Des Plaines Park District. We wish you the very best during this holiday season.
