The Monday Parks PlayBook: Golf, Golf, Golf!

Fall is golf season. Head out to the links for the Patch Par 3 Challenge, check out Bears Game Day Specials at Golf Center Des Plaines, and try your skill at Mountain View Adventure Center.

Fall is in the air! The leaves are changing. The air is crisp. Grab your clubs and let’s go golfing! We have three ways to hit the links this week...

1. Join us on October 6 for the 2012 Patch Par Three Youth and Adult Challenge at Lake Park Golf Course. Each twosome is made up of one adult and one child under the age of 17. Twosomes play one ball per hole. Youths tee off on odd numbered holes and adults tee off on even numbered holes. We’ll also have two contests: a Closest to the Pin and a Longest Putt. Lunch and an awards presentation will follow the Challenge. The shotgun start is at 10:00am. No clubs for the little duffer? No problem. Lake Park has free golf clubs for children to use courtesy of the Sticks for Kids program. For all the information, call Lake Park at 847-391-5730.

2. Looking to improve your swing and catch some Bears action? The Golf Center Des Plaines has great Bears Game Day Specials. Every Sunday, range balls are just 7¢ each from opening through the end of the game. We’ve got spirit, how about you? Show us your colors! Wear your favorite Bears’ gear and receive a $5 bonus on your $30 purchase! The Golf Center is located at 353 N. River Road. Call 847-803-GOLF for all the details or visit www.GolfCenterDesPlaines.com

3. Mini-golf more your game? Saturday, October 6, is the last Late Night in the Park of the season. Grab your friends and head over to Mountain View Adventure Center for an evening of fun. The admission price gets you unlimited rounds of mini-golf, time in the batting cages to practice your softball and baseball swings, high flyin’ skate boarding and BMX bike riding in the Skate Park, and special sports and games. You won’t want to miss all the fun!
