The Monday Parks PlayBook: A mom’s guide to stress management...

Hey Moms! We have some great ideas to help you take your stress level down a notch: Yoga, a free cooking demo, and a Fantastic Friday.

Fall is in the air...the leaves are turning...and your to-do list has just become two pages long! How are you ever going to get everything done? We have some great ideas to help you take that stress level down a notch.

1. If you can find just one hour a week, we can help you to relax and refresh your mind. Yoga! It is a great class for improving your posture and circulation as well as controlling your weight. Different poses help you to stretch away your stress and increase your stamina, improve your coordination, and wake up your vitality. Classes Monday nights or Saturday mornings. See, we are flexible, too.

2. What’s for dinner? Do those three little words send chills up your spine? After a long day of work, wouldn’t it be great to sit down to a delicious, healthy home cooked meal with your family? Let us show you how. On Wednesday, October 17, from 11:30am-12:30pm, stop by Prairie Lakes Community Center for a free cooking demo with Maribel Alchin, MBA, RD, LDN, Meijer Dietitian and Healthy Living Advisor. Maribel will provide practical meal solutions, teach healthy cooking techniques, and show you how to spice up your typical weekly menu with delicious, well-rounded nutrition.

3. Need a night off? We are here for you. Friday, October 19 is Fantastic Friday at the Administrative and Leisure Center. Kids ages 5-12 are invited to a supervised night of gym sports and games, arts and crafts, time in the game room, and more! From 5:00 until 9:30pm they will have fun with friends as you take some time for yourself. Pizza and pop are available for purchase, so why not have them join us for dinner, too.
