Hundreds gathered on the lawn at the Lake Park Memorial Pavilion on June 22, to watch DreamWorks 2010 animated feature, How to Train Your Dragon, the story of an unlikely friendship between the Viking Boy, Hiccup, and Toothless, a mysterious Night Fury dragon. The free Friday Night Movie in the Park series is sponsored by the Des Plaines Optimist Club, a 57 year old service club, that partners with the Des Plaines Park District for family friendly activities including a fishing derby, a junior golf tournament, a kite fly, as well as the Movies in the Park.

The next screening will be The Princess Bride, a classic fairy tale about a beautiful princess, an evil prince, and a big hearted giant, on Friday, July 6. Popcorn, freezer pops, snacks, and soda will be available for purchase before the movie. For more information about events at Lake Park visit www.DPParks.org or call 847-391-5700.

I believe the aldermen are Denise Rodd south of Dempster and Dick Sayad north. Contact them.Read More Although I do not live in Rodd's ward (Im in the 8th) I am somehow on her mailing list and she keeps wanting to know what she can do for me. Here is something.

I suggest contacting the alderman to raise the profile of what these streets need.
