Des Plaines Park District Recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting

The Des Plaines Park District and Don Miletic, Superintendent of Business and Golf Operations, recently received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.

The Des Plaines Park District and Don Miletic, Superintendent of Business and Golf Operations, recently received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the fiscal year ending April 20, 2012. This marks the twenty-first year in a row that the District has been awarded this certificate for their comprehensive annual financial report by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, (GFOA). The GFOA was established in 1945 and presents this annual award to government agencies and public employee retirement systems whose comprehensive annual financial reports achieve the highest standards in government accounting and financial reporting. The attainment of a Certificate of Achievement represents a significant accomplishment by an agency and its management. “We are very proud of the professionalism of our business department under Don’s leadership,” said John Hecker, Executive Director. Reports submitted are reviewed by selected members of both the GFOA professional staff and the GFOA Special Review Committee, which is comprised of individuals with specific expertise in public sector financial reporting including financial statement preparers, independent auditors, academics, and other finance professionals.
