Senator Kotowski announces Veterans' and Military Job Fair

Senator Kotowski announces an upcoming Veterans' and Military Job Fair that will be held in Schaumburg on Thursday, June 21st.

Businesses currently hiring encouraged to register before June 15 deadline

SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Senator Dan Kotowski (D-Park Ridge) is encouraging Veterans, their families, and businesses to attend a local job fair at the University of Phoenix’s Schaumburg location on Thursday, June 21, 2012. The event, co-sponsored by Kotowski and the University of Phoenix, will allow jobseekers to use the university’s computer lab to revise and critique their résumés and meet with potential employers at the Job Fair.

Other sponsors of the event include Country Financial of Park Ridge, Melaleuca, Usborne Books & More, Illinois Northern Cook County WorkNet Center, and the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

The free Job Fair will offer seminars and workshops from 9:30am to 10:30am to help better prepare jobseekers for interviews with potential employers. At 10:30, the doors will open for jobseekers to meet with all employers until 2:30pm. Attendees are asked to bring a flash drive, or USB device, containing their résumé to be worked on at the computer lab.

“This concept was introduced to me earlier this year by a US Navy Veteran at Schaumburg’s University of Phoenix campus. And since that time, my District Office has been focused on building up this event to make it a success,” Senator Kotowski said. “The goal of this event is to help connect our local Veterans with employers in the Northwestern region of Chicagoland that are currently hiring.”

The event will be held at the University of Phoenix, located on the 7th floor at 1500 McConnor Parkway in Schaumburg. All jobseekers are invited to this event as Senator Kotowski continues to work with area employers to put residents back to work.

Interested participants are asked to contact Kotowski’s District Office at (847) 656-5414.
