Will McDonald's Museum Leave Des Plaines?

In the wake of repeated flooding, McDonald's is considering what should be done with its Des Plaines museum.

Senior McDonald's officials are fed up with flooding issues and are considering options for the first McDonald's hamburger stand, now a museum, located on Lee Street near Rand Road, the Journal and Topics reported.

One option would be to move the museum to McDonald's headquarters in Oak Brook, although the newspaper quoted a spokesperson who said she did not believe that such plans were in motion. Still, the company is having discussions about what to do in the wake of repeated flooding in the area.

In April, Des Plaines endured heavy flooding as the Des Plaines River hit record levels. The Rand Road area near the museum was under water.

The Daily Herald reported that Des Plaines officials are hopeful the museum will stay and are reaching out to McDonald's officials.
