Readers' Choice: St. Patrick's Day Celebrations

When you want the best, where do you go?

Where is the best place to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? That’s the question we’re asking you this week in our Readers’ Choice series.

Here are some of our favorites, but if we’re missing one, please let us know in the comments and we’ll add it.

  • — This traditional Des Plaines bar first opened in 1955. St. Patrick day specials are $2.75 domestic drafts and $9.95 for a helping of corned beef and cabbage. Live entertainment will be the Del Chaperones at 9 p.m.

  •  — The popular bar, a Ballard Road staple since 1988, will have a St. Patrick’s Day corned beef and cabbage special at $11.95.  Dosequis are $3 and select craft beers are $3. Triple Shot provides the entertainment starting at  9 p.m.
  •  — Patrons should not go hungry or thirsty with a Saturday special of corned beef and 16 ounce Miller Lite Chi Irish beer for $8.95. Entertainment on St. Patrick’s Day Bliss, with no cover charge, at 9:30 p.m.   Available as specials both Friday and Saturday are $3 for a 16-ounce Miller Lite Chi Irish, $4 for Jameson Irish Whiskey and $4 for any flavored vodka.
  •  — St. Patrick Day special is domestic  12-ounce bottles for $2.50. A free buffet with hot dogs and Polish sausage will be featured. The beer garden will be open, starting at 11 a.m.
  •  — Saturday specials include $3 domestic green beer, $4 for 16-ounce Guinness, $4 for Car Bomb, $4 for Jameson shot, $3.75 for Rail mix drinks (house liquors mixed with juice or pop), $4 for Bloody Marys and $5 for Bomb Shots.
  •  — St. Patrick’s Day specials  include Jello Shots for $2.50 and Jello Blows for $3. Free snacks are available all day and night. Management wants fans not to go hungry as they watch their favorite sports on new large-screen TVs. March specials  also available are Guinness pints for $3.50, shots of Irish Mist for $4, mini-pitchers of Sam Adams and Blue Moon for $7.50 and seven-ounce Pony (Miller) bottles for $1.75.
