A week ago we asked readers what type of business they would like to see move into the empty retail space at 1479 Market St. in Des Plaines.
As of Feb. 20, 86 readers voted in the poll between a bookstore, boutique, coffee shop, delicatessen, and bar and grill. The winner, with 47 votes, 54 percent of the total, was a bar and grill.
In second and third places were a bookstore and coffee shop. To view all the results, click the “View Results” button to the right of the “Submit” button at the bottom of the poll.
Readers made additional recommendations in the comments section of the story and on Des Plaines Patch’s Facebook page. Suggestions included a hot dog restaurant, a craft store and a bakery.
Businesses that have survived in Metropolitan Square include World Gym, Spa di da, Lee Nails, Hair Cuttery, Potbelly’s, Panera and Flower Art Studio.
