Layoffs Loom for Walgreen's, Sun-Times Media, Kmart

Crain's Chicago Business is reporting that nearly 1,200 jobs could be lost at the prominent companies.

Nine companies are reportedly preparing for nearly 1,200 layoffs throughout Illinois, including Walgreen's, Kmart and Sun-Times Media, according to Crain's Chicago Business.

Deerfield-based Walgreen's will reportedly lay off 65 warehouse workers in west suburban Berkeley while Kmart, part of Hoffman Estates-based Sears Holdings Corp., plans to lay off 98 employees when it closes a Naperville store in the spring, Crain's reported.

Sun-Times Media, publisher of the Chicago Sun-Times and other suburban papers, warns that 274 jobs in Glenview, Tinley Park and Aurora could be eliminated due to consolidation.

I believe the aldermen are Denise Rodd south of Dempster and Dick Sayad north. Contact them.Read More Although I do not live in Rodd's ward (Im in the 8th) I am somehow on her mailing list and she keeps wanting to know what she can do for me. Here is something.

I suggest contacting the alderman to raise the profile of what these streets need.
