H&R Block Wins Readers’ Choice Award

With a single poll vote, , coasted in to take the 2012 Readers’ Choice award for best place to have income taxes prepared for filing. This location for the financial services chain is located at the corner of Lee and Oakton streets, and is open seasonally from January to July.

Reader Frances Murray wrote in the comments, “As a senior, I get my taxes done at the Des Plaines library. The AARP sponsors the event and the best part about it is it’s FREE. I understand that there are other locations, such as senior centers, where this service is also provided at no cost. You do not have to be a member of AARP to participate.”

AARP hosts tax preparation sessions for residents at the on most Tuesdays and Thursdays between February and April. Registration is required, and all of the sessions have been filled for this year.
