Des Plaines Theater Back Open After Ceiling Collapse

The collapse forced the theater to close for four months for repairs.

The Des Plaines Theater is back in business after a ceiling collapse earlier this year, the Journal & Topics reports.

The incident forced the theater to close for four months while repairs were being made. That wasn’t the only issue the theater was facing. Prior to the collapse, the city council agreed to let the theater remain open while safety improvements and restorations were being made—a task that has already cost theater owner Dhitu Bhagwaker $250,000. The booking process for shows is already underway, and the owner hopes to be a lively institution again soon the newspaper reports.
