PCI Donates to Tornado Relief in Illinois

In response to Sunday’s deadly tornado outbreak in Illinois, the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI) participated in the Chicago Cubs’ donation drive Friday at Wrigley Field to help with tornado relief efforts.

“Our thoughts are with those who lost loved ones as a result of Sunday’s catastrophic storms and those who are beginning the recovery process,” said Jeffrey Junkas, regional manager for PCI. “The insurance industry is fully committed to helping the victims of these storms put their lives back together. Thousands of insurance adjusters are in the field now assessing damage, cutting checks, and working to support their customers, friends, neighbors and, in some cases, co-workers who also experienced the destruction and devastation. Whether it is helping policyholders with immediate expenses, being a safety net that spurs economic recovery or making donations to the relief efforts, in times like this, the insurance industry plays an integral role in restoring communities.”

PCI is composed of more than 1,000 member companies, representing the broadest cross-section of insurers of any national trade association. PCI members write over $195 billion in annual premium, 39 percent of the nation’s property casualty insurance. Member companies write 46 percent of the U.S. automobile insurance market, 32 percent of the homeowners market, 37 percent of the commercial property and liability market, and 41 percent of the private workers compensation market.
