Teen Summer Fun Begins June 4th at Des Plaines Library

Teen Summer Reading Club begins on Saturday June 4 at the Des Plaines Public Library. Teens in grades 7-12 are eligible to participate in our “5/25 Club." Read 5 books or for 25 hours and you will receive a $5.00 Potbelly Sandwich Shop gift card and a Des Plaines Park District one-day pass.

Everyone who completes Teen Summer Reading Club will also have their name entered in a drawing to win a Barnes and Noble Nook!  Register online at www.dppl.org/teen or in person at the Readers’ Services Desk. Teens should also visit the Teen Lounge between June 4 and July 31 to enter our book review contest. Book review contest winners will receive an awesome book trilogy to round out their summer reading!

We’ll kick off Teen Summer Programming with two great programs. Join us for Medieval Metal, a jewelry making craft for teens, on June 4 in the 2nd floor Program Room. Drop in from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. to craft your own renaissance finery with beads and baubles supplied by us. On June 10 we’ll host our 2nd Annual Battle of the Bands.  We have six bands set to perform starting at 6 p.m. The crowd will determine the winner, so bring your friends to Library Plaza to cheer on your favorite band and enjoy pizza provided by the Des Plaines Park District.

The fun isn’t over when the music ends. We have a variety of programs for teens planned through July 31.
