Mayor Moylan Proclaims August 11th Family Fun Fest Day

Holy Family Medical Center will offer family activities for kids and parents at its 4th Annual Fun Fest, Saturday, August 11, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., 150 N. River Road, Des Plaines.

The free event includes activities for the whole family including: “Let’s Move Our Numbers” health screenings: blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose and body mass index; teddy bear and doll checkups, AVON makeovers, face painting, Ask a Doctor Booth, YMCA climbing wall, helicopter ambulance landing (Noon-weather permitting), Zumba Dance class, Des Plaines Library story time, foot screenings, a Farmers Market and much more.

Free backpacks, complete with school supplies, will be given to the first 300 school age children (ages 5-17) *child must be present.

“Last year’s Fun Fest drew a record crowd of 500 people,” said Pam Bell, CEO, Holy Family Medical Center. “In spite of the rainy weather we had that day, our community showed up in full force.”

This year’s event sponsors include: Office Max, General Mills, and the Rotary Club of Des Plaines for their donations. Community participants include: AVON, City of Des Plaines Health & Human Services Dept., Des Plaines Fire Department, Des Plaines Police Department, Des Plaines Public Library, Des Plaines Park District, Illinois State Police, Lattof YMCA, State Senator Dan Kotowski (33rd District) and Superior Ambulance.
