Des Plaines History Center Annual Meeting

The Des Plaines History Center will host its Annual
Meeting at the recently-restored Des Plaines Theatre on Thursday, May 24, 6:30-9:00pm. The
Meeting is open to all members and the general public.

Following a brief business meeting of the History Center, the first movie ever shown in the Des
Plaines Theatre — the 1925 silent film “Are Parents People?” - will be featured. The Des
Plaines Theatre, built in 1925, is located at 1476 Miner Street in Des Plaines and is an historic
focal point in the downtown area.

The History Center, a non-profit organization since 1968, specializes in the collecting and
preserving information and objects relating to the history of Des Plaines and making those
collections accessible to the public through public programs, exhibits and displays, and a local
history archives.

Tickets to the Annual Meeting are $15 per person (purchase in advance only) and include light
refreshments and dessert. Call the History Center at 847-391-5399 or stop in at 781 Pearson
