AMA Dance & Music School Honors Our Community!

AMA Dance & Music School’s decision to theme their annual June production around local businesses was an easy one. “We wanted to involve the community in a way that pays tribute and directs attention to them!” says owner and director, Ann Marie Frank.

The production is appropriately titled, “All in a Day’s Work” and has been sponsored by more than 46 different businesses within the community.

Each routine is themed around a particular sponsor.  For example, the Chicago O’Hare Marriott sponsored a routine where 28 dancers come out on luggage carts dressed as bellhops, and students actually come out of the luggage!  Mr. Windows sponsored a ballet routine that uses window frames as props; and Home Helpers, an in-home senior care company, sponsored a routine that the performers tap dance with walkers!  Mrs. V’s Restaurant sponsored a routine filled with cooks and waitresses; and the police department is represented by our mother/child class where the moms are convicts and the kids are law enforcement!  Our very own Patch.com is sponsoring “Newsies,” a routine featuring 30 dancers dressed as paperboys spreadin’ the news!  The show is creative and entertaining.  But, most of all, it’s fun to watch and a blast to be part of!

Within the show, AMA takes the time to dedicate routines to our U.S. Troops, the Library and America’s finest, both the Fire and Police Departments and even AMA’s favorite charities.  They even have eight AMA parents that are actual firefighters performing!

“It really is a family show. We have over 40 AMA parents performing. They love being involved with their children!” Frank says.  The whole family will enjoy this show. Whether it’s the adorable, 2-year-old “Dwarfs” or the tumbling production routine filled with tricks and excitement, the audience will be left wanting more!  A 50/50 raffle will held with all proceeds going to the Des Plaines Food Pantry!  Frank says, “We want to help the pantry since they are part of our community too!”

The parents of AMA agree that Frank has a gift for making AMA’s students shine on stage. Inspired by Broadway musicals her parents took her to at a very young age, Frank says, “We realize most of our students will not go on to be Broadway stars.  However, our goal is to give them an experience that makes them feel like one NOW.”

This one-of-a-kind show can be seen June 11 & 12 at 1:30 p.m. at Maine East High School, 2601 W. Dempster in Park Ridge. For tickets, call 847-727-7066.  Tickets are $15 in advance.  $20 at the door.
