Children's Book Week: A Reason to Celebrate!

Library offers selection to please children of all ages.

Monday, May 2-Sunday, May 8 is Children’s Book Week. The event is closing in on nearly one hundred years of celebration. Check out their website for a history and guide to events happening all over the country. Children’s books are definitely a cause for celebration.

Even though you already love them, give your book selections a second look when you are planning your next few months with the family. Spring is just about to spring, and summer vacations are on the way. Children’s Book Week is a great time to start exploring new ways to read together as a family.

Your Des Plaines Public Library has a remarkable selection of reading material for you and your children of all ages, from the virtually indestructible board book for babies, to the 500 page tome for your voracious junior high reader, and beyond.

We also have materials in a variety of formats so that your reading experiences can be geared to your family’s needs and tastes.

You’re traveling with the family? Check out some books on CD so the whole family can listen together through your car’s audio system and then discuss the story as a family as you move through the chapters.
