The Great Escape: Bridal Fashion Show and Expo

Whether you're getting married or not, this is a fun day for the ladies.

Your kids are your first priority, yet no matter their age, they take up most of your time. But when your teens are out with friends or your youngsters are busy with practice, you find yourself with some free time. We like to call it ‘me’ time.

Each week we’ll give you one great idea to give you a much-deserved break, and make your life a little easier.

Do you know someone that’s getting married? Just curious about what's trendy these days? If so, register yourself and a friend for the Matrix League Bridal Expo and Fashion Show on April 10 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the  in Des Plaines. This event supports local small businesses and the Matrix League Volleyball Club.

Even if there is no wedding in sight for you or your friends, decorating tips can help you throw any kind of party. Flowers, place cards, colors and themes can all be part of a fun, memorable get-together. With over 40 vendors on-site, you're bound to be exposed to some interesting new ideas for centerpieces, arrangements, templates and more.

You can also enjoy a fashion show at 11:30 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. where bridal-wear will be showcased. Be one of the first to see the hottest trends today.

Sample decadent desserts, watch free demonstrations, enjoy free raffles and find the best resources, such as photographers, videographers, florists and DJs in your area.

This event is perfect for the bride on a budget, but also a great opportunity for friends to spend the day together. With a fashion show, raffles and free tastings and demonstrations, there's something to keep you entertained all day.

Register before March 15 for free admission to the day’s festivities. After March 15 a $10 entrance fee will be required per person.
