Section of Touhy Avenue Closed For Nine Days
Touhy will be closed at the Canadian National railroad crossing.
The Des Plaines Public Works and Engineering Department has received notification from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) that Touhy Avenue in Des Plaines will be closed at the Canadian National (CN) railroad crossing from 11 a.m, Thursday, June 2, until (on or before) 4 p.m., Friday, June 10. Work will include track replacement and resurfacing.
The road will be completely closed at Mannheim Road and at River Road with detour signs posted, directing traffic to River Road south, to Devon Avenue west, to Route 72 to the west, and Mannheim Road to the north.
Motorists are advised to proceed with caution and obey signage.
