Operation North Pole Family Fun Fest

These photos are from the the first annual Operation North Pole Fire Truck Pull, which was held Sunday, May 15. Participants included the Des Plaines Fire Department, Des Plaines Police Department and Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, among others.

Teams made up of 15 people went against each other in a friendly game of tug of war, doing their best to pull the 80,000 pound firetruck. Prizes were awarded for most money raised, fastest pull and slowest pull.

The pull was held to raise money for , an annual event at O'Hare Airport which takes children battling illness on a "flight" to the North Pole to meet Santa Claus and receive gifts.
