In Need Of A Coat? Cops Distributing Saturday

Park Ridge, Niles and Des Plaines police have partnered to collect gently-used coats; they will distribute them Saturday to people who can't afford coats. They have women's, men's and children's outerwear.

Baby, it's cold out there. And police from Niles, Des Plaines and Park Ridge are trying to take the edge off the chill.

For almost a month, they've asked the public to donate gently-used coats for people in need. And the public has responded with men's, women's and children's coats.

On Saturday, police will distribute the outerwear to Maine Township residents who are struggling financially.

"We ask that they have an ID to prove residency in Maine Township," said Officer Julie Genualdi of the Park Ridge Police Department.

Officers will distribute one coat per person. Coat-seekers must show up in person to receive one, so bring any family members, including children, who need coats.

Location: Maine Township Hall, 1700 Ballard Road, Park Ridge

Hours: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
