Get Out: Oktoberfest, “Jesus Christ Superstar,” More

Des Plaines Patch's community event calendar lists tons of stuff to do.

Kiwanis Peanut Days

When/Where: Friday, Sept. 28 and Saturday, Sept. 29, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in intersections and at businesses around Des Plaines.

Why Go: One hundred percent of the net proceeds received from residents and businesses are shared by the Des Plaines Kiwanis Foundation with
organizations in the community.

Volunteers will be at local intersections and participating businesses to ask for donations from the community. They will give out bags of peanuts in appreciation for the
community’s support.

Oktoberfest at the Countryside Saloon

When/Where: Friday, Sept. 28 to Saturday, Sept. 29 at Countryside Saloon, 2501 E. Ballard Road in Des Plaines.

Why Go: Come celebrate Oktoberfest with German food and music. Also plenty of German beer! Oopah!

Big Noise Theatre presents "Jesus Christ Superstar"

When/Where: Sept. 28 through Oct. 21, weekends, at Big Noise Theatre at Prairie Lakes, 515 E. Thacker St. in Des Plaines.

Why Go: Based on a concept album project written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, Jesus Christ Superstar tells the story of the final seven days in the life of Jesus Christ through the troubled eyes of Judas Iscariot. The show is a musical theater staple, having just been revived recently on Broadway.

Pricing: Tickets for adults, $25, seniors $23, students with school ID and children 12 years old and younger $16. 

Kraft American Cheese Teams Up with Five Guys and Feeding America for National Cheeseburger Day

When/Where: Sept. 17 to Oct. 1, all day, at Five Guys Burgers and Fries, 25 S. Northwest Highway in Park Ridge.

Why Go: KRAFT American Cheese will donate a meal to Feeding America for every customer who visits Five Guys and checks in at KraftCheese.com/checkin using a mobile device.

Pricing: Free. 

4 Wheels and Fall Fun

When/Where: Saturday, Sept. 29, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Park Ridge Park District Maine Park Leisure Center, 2701 W. Sibley St.

Why Go: Climb on and explore your favorite vehicles including fire engines, police cars, and tractors! Enjoy fall games, crafts, fall food and many other activities. Fall fun for everyone! All children ages 2 and up must be registered and accompanied by an adult.

Pricing: Residents $8, Non-residents $15.

Park Ridge Farmers' Market

When/Where: Saturday, Sept. 29, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Prairie Avenue and Garden Street in Park Ridge.

Why Go: The Park Ridge Farmers' Market features fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods, handmade soaps, flowers, potted plants and more.
